I didn’t know this skating athlete. Today a news came out about him which says he won in the 2nd game of speed skating world cup held in Netherland. He joined the 500m speed skating game and got the 1st prize with 34.98 sec.
He is probably promised the ticket to go to Vancouver Olymplc games although some more good skaters are competing with him.
What I thought about this news was the record, 34.98 sec, was really amazing. Some Olympics ago, it was totally a dream that human breaks the barrier of 35.00 sec. Now there are some players skating 500m within 35.00 sec.
Recent 100m run record of VOLT, 9.69 sec, is also incredible. When Ben Johnson recorded 9.79 or something in the Olympic, I was really amazed, what’s more, Ben Johnson was found doping after that. So his record was just a dream then. But VOLT is not running in the dream, it’s reality.
Skating record is also progressing. When I was a child, there was Sapporo WInter Olympic in Japan. Then, the 500m top racer’s record was around 38 seconds at most.
