Alico Japan is a very big insurance company also in Japan.  It’s maybe the 5 th or 6th biggest company ( this is not correct memory though). And this big insurance company recently is shaken by the leak of large number of customer information.

ALICO is a member of AIG group as known well. AIG is supposed to be still faced with financial problems by derivative, the time bomb of the economy destruction. After the Lehman Brothers melt down, AIG tried to sell Alico Japan insurance company.

Alico Japan still seems to be in healthy running condition because the Japanese insurance company, Alico Japan, makes the best selling result among AIG grouop. For recovery of the deficits, probably AIG wanted to sell Alico Japan.

While the M&A is on the table, Alico Japan recently is losing customers by serious information leak of customers credit cards. Some months ago, Alico admitted the leak of customer credit card information by unknown reason, and the credit cards of them were used by third independents illegally. Then Alico sent 10,00 yen gift cards to the victims to settle the trouble down. 

But today, news reported the same trouble happened again on Alico. In total, Alico lost more than 30,000 customers information.

Without a dounbt, this mistake is too big for Alico.  Losing customer would be the biggest damage for Alico, and then, the M&A negotiation would be affected reasonably. Alico has been making a lot of AD on TV, or in News Papers for collecting new customers, and it made a great success since Alico settled in Japan.

This time, Alico is being hit by the financial damage and by the damage of sinking reputation.

To be honest, I also quit Alico insurance a few days ago.
