I’ve seen people who don’t like Ramen or Sushi, but I’ve never encountered someone in Japan who don’t eat Curry dish of Japan. Japanese Curry is such a lovely food for us.
We don’t eat everyday, maybe once to twice a week is the average frequency at most for standard Japanese people to have Curry dish. But I can say there scarcely is person who doesn’t like Curry.
Curry is an imported food from India. I don’t know the route of the import or how it was imported from India. Indian Curry is loved in the world, but Japanese Curry is not known to the world yet. It’s OK, Japanese Curry is a very domestic food for us because it’s arranged for Japanese taste.
If you have chance to come to Japan, I can highly recommend you have Curry in Japan at least once or twice. I’m sure you will understand the taste.
I’ve seen many American or European people who became Japanese Curry fan immediately at an experience.
Recent Curry has various types. Simple curry & rice, Pork Cutlet Curry & rice ( Katsu Curry), Fish Curry, Shrimp Curry,….I can’t write them out here all. There are too many !
So it’s also true that each person has his or her own favourite types of Curry.
Curry is not that hard to cook. You can buy instant curry powder at super market or somewhere but probably the taste at restaurants is better than instant curry. As the first experience, we recommend you have good restaurant Curry.
