Do you know HIROMI UEHARA ? She is a real genius pianist. I must say I love her because of her music, positive attitude, and her humble humanity.
Listening to her makes me understand she has the god-sent talent. Nobody can do the same with her because she is one and only talent in this planet.
Genius artists are anytime one and only. It doesn’t mean HIROMI UEHARA is always the best musician in the world. There are more genius in the world but what I want to say is that she is absolutely one of the genius born on this earth.
In my own opinion, she should not work only in Japan. Her talent can make people feel something through her music without language. Her talent should be discovered more in the world by the people who need inspiration to live.
HIROMI UEHARA was found by Chick Corea when she was 16 or so. According to the story I heard, she was playing the piano at a studio for practice, there, Chick Corea came and listened to her piano play. With one play of Hiromi, Chick Corea found her talent and invited her to his stage in Japan soon later because he was there in Japan for concerts !!
HIROMI says she respects Chick Corea and Oscar Peterson. When I hear something like that, often the players are influenced too much by the players they respect and they lose something of personality in the sound. However, HIROMI never loses her own sound world, and I can scarcely find the similarity to those players Hiromi respects. Often, I think HIROMI is better than them. Again, this is not a comparison. This is the taste of listeners. As I stated, they are all genius, and in that respect, there is no difference in the talent value.
Am I proud of her because she is Japanese ? I sometimes ask myself like this.
Yes, a little, but not much. I don’t care if she is Japanese or not. The most important thing is the fact I found a new talent here. And it’s a joy just like when I found Bach, Mozart, or Beatles for the first time in my life. Of course, I don’t care which country they belong to.
What I want to say is…I’m so glad because I understand I can feel something from their music. I can get power from their music. I know it’s all the genius power they got from heaven to make us happy.
I hear the human sound from them, not a sound of nationality.
