YOSUI INOUE has been a top singer songwriter in Japan. There were some up and down in his career. Now he established his status in music scene and nobody in Japan doubts his talent.

First he could not make hit records, ever since he made a hit with Yumenonakae ( into a dream ), he became the top musician in Japan.

The first million sales record was also made by YOSUI INOUE by the album called Koorino Sekai ( World of Ice ) released in 1972. If it was in 1990 -2000, that would mean 10 million hit in Japan.

His songs were gloomy in this early career. When Japan enjoyed highly booming economy, people lost interest in his songs because of the dark image.  “Songs go together with times”  This  is what we often say thinking of songs in our times, like that, his songs were not needed in that nationally jumping atmosphere in 1980′s.

Once the economy went down,  people once again started to listen to his songs without any hesitation.  His songs’ quality is always high.  People soon came back to his world.

If I say “Gloomy”, it might cause misunderstanding about him. He sings about life, past, and future with his own sense of language. It’s not strange thing at all. But at that crazy high time, people were making fuss without thinking seriousely about their life. Not only his songs but many songs with important message were put aside at the time.

YOSUI INOUE’s biggest hit in his career is SHONENJIDAI ( Time of young boy). This makes people remember when they were young. Many cried with memory of their young days.  Melancholy sense is really touching in this song.
