Times Press (UK) released University ranking of the world. As usual, No.1 is Harvard of US, and the 2nd is Cambridge of UK. Many of them are from the USA or UK, which means the university grade in these 2 countries or in western countries is still higher than the most of the other parts of the world. It’s in a sense natural research report because the servay is based on Western Academic Judgement.
Recent study in any course is often lead by the value of the Western countries, it’s also true in Japanese Universities. They teach Economics of Keynes or Friedman to students, and law is also a concept from UK. As far as the modern society system is constructed by Western countries, it’s natural that Universities of the world teach Western studies as such.
Also, ranking is fair as far as this stream of studies don’t change. Ranking should be made on the concept of Western country’s study.
In that research, Tokyo university is reported as No.1 University in Asian countries being ranked as 22nd in the world. Also more universities are ranked within top 100.
Japan joined the Western county economy first of all after the war, and this result is not surprising. This means Japanese Universities are advanced from the eyes of Western social system.
But maybe for Chinese people, this result is not so important because they still live in the value of Chinese culture and Chinese study. And they are proud of being following the tradition and study of their long history.
China is said to become the world leader sooner or later.
If they prevail more in the world, this kind of survay could result differently. In that situation, it will be sure that Chinese Universities will occupy many of the top 100 in ranking.
