Today’s news reported that New York Times is in deficit again in this year with all last year’s rebuilding plan.
This tendency is also found in Japanese media. Major News Papers are all in bad running condition with never experienced deficits. Also TV stations are in serious running in spite that they never experienced deficits.
It means, first of all, the advertisements for media is less than the past because of the economic recession. Next, people don’t see media recently because they are not trustful and not interesting. They can get information through Internet with free of charge, and TVs are always broadcasting the same programs by the same actor or comedians. And in the end, people don’t have time to stay with boring media.
For a long time, reading newspapers and watching TVs are always on the top ranke priority for the standard Japanese, but they don’t have to do it because different ways to reach news and entertainment are always prepared in the modern life.
Above all, the most important thing for media is if it’s really necessary for our life. Media is not telling all the truth and they are not fun at all for living room. This is probably the general image to media among Japanese people. It’s natural that media lose their power and money.
