In Japan, there is a controversial matter about the future of Japan.  It’s immigrant matter.

Japan will face shortage of labor soon because the population of Japan is on the decrease. If Japan wants to keep the present prosperity of economy, immigrants or imported labor will be soon needed.

I’ve seen immigrants in the world when I traveled. As my impression, Japanese immigrants are rather less than any other nations in many parts of the world. In Hawaii and Brazil, Japanese immigrants are many because of the history but at present time the number is not increasing in the world.  Chinese, Korean, Dutch, French, Spanish and more nations are often seen on the stressts of the world, but if we look back the history, the biggest immigrants in the world are British people. They were the first poeple who landed on the unknown world for Europeans, and they stayed in the new land.  If we think like that, history of human is a process of immigration in a sense.

Today I saw a news about Netherlands about the problems of immigrants form Middle East or Africa. Netherlands is rather a small country with small numbers of people. It used to be said a nice country to live in, or as a dreamland of human.  Dutch are thought to be strong people in the history, they crossed the oceans and opened new world then.  But they seem to be suffering from the problem of immigrants.

When people live in peace, they are sometimes very weak when others come in.  Peaceful nation belive people, and have no self-defence. As time goes by, the peace is often broken by new friction among people.  maybe that’s what Netherlands has as a problem now.

This is probably what Japan will soon be faced with.
