Takeshi Kitano’s Biography is going to be published in France.
Well, I sometimes talked about him here. So somewhat I think it’s already enough about him here.
Recently I saw his TV show, and I thought he really got old. When he was a comedy boy rather than a movie director, his talks on stage was like the thunder storm. That was really sharp and strong with such an impact on our brain. But his recent talks don’t tell me much. Maybe it’s because he once had an serious traffic accident. At the accident, he lost the nerve in his face. Since then, he can’t speak well because of the loose face muscle. As he gets older, he lost speed in his talk maybe because of the accident history.
Also he apparently lost his attitude with anti-power topics. He often broke taboo of Japanese politics to Japanese people’s customs, which nobody ever pointed out. After his presence, media of Japan apparently changed the journalism style too. They could criticize things because Takeshi Kitano had already broke the taboo and showed how stupid they world we know was. In that sense, he really changed the Japanese mental mechanism too.
It’s sad if he is losing his ability. Takeshi Kitano is indeed an irreplaceable talent of Japan.
On the other hand, it may be his destiny. I once saw his interview. He said then ” People often say they want to be happy. They want it before they die in the one and only life. But I don’t need peaceful life. I think we can be peaceful after we die, so I would rather be dangerous and stimulative in this real life. I don’t need happiness.” What a word !
Takeshi Kitano is really great comedian. But his life contains flavour of death all the time. He lives with such a speed and he cuts anything into pieces by his sharp observation. His life didn’t have any rest. In other words, he might be running for his happy goal, or death.
His talks is becoming not stimulative recently. If it means he is approaching his death, I don’t want to see him any more on TV or in the movies. I don’t want to lose him so fast.
Takeshi Kitano’s Biography in France may be a good timing book for him too. Actually he has been running, but it’s close to his goal too. I don’t know how he is accepted in France. I hope the reader of this book in France will know about his inside maddness, which is a real talent we have enjoyed in Japan.
