DAISUKE TAKAHASHI got Bronz Medal on Figure Skating Competition

takahashi-dIn Vancouver, Japanese players aren’t making good results judging from the numbers of medals.  But yesterday, Daisuke Takahashi gave us a touching moment when he got bronz medal for the first time ever as a Japanese figure skating player.

Japanese female figure skating made some good results in the past Olympic games. Shizuka Arakawa got Gold medal, and Midori Itoh got Silver when she first successed tripple accel jump in the history of female figure skating.

Of course the figure skating competition is a game born in Western world, it’s not a Japanese or Oriental born sport game. It’s natural that Asians can’t catch up with the world class players.

We would like to congratulate Daisuke Takahashi for his accomplishment that Japanese figure skating players could not ralize for a long time.

But above that result, I want to look at his effort before this Olympic.  He got injured his leg and it was a very hard rehabilitation to come back to this stage now.

Also, he was raised in a poor family. His mother worked hard to raise him. And when his mother found his ability, she worked all day and night at supermarket or restaurant for the funds to support him.  His mother answered to interviewer ” this medal is more than a gold medal for me “.

Daisuke Takahashi made the result for himself but he knows it’s also for all the people who supported him to be there, of course including his mother.

When I saw him had a little tear in his eyes while he was looking at Japanese national flag rising up,  I remembered the story of his mother and his way to reach there.  That was a touching moment, and the color of the medal didn’t matter as his mother told.
