Magazines are nearly gone in Japan ?

magazine1It’s said that magazines and newspapers are struggling with big deficits each year because of the change of life style.  Only some years ago, for the average people, magazines and papers are the most useful information source to know what they like in Japan.

Internet changed everything.

Especially younger generation don’t read papers, they take information from internet.  Like that, updated information is more in the internet than in the magazines or newspapers.  Also most of the information on the internet is FREE, not like papers or magazines.

Today’s news says Japanese magazine market is still shrinking with dramatic speed.  Many of well known magazines are already finished distributing.  Some magazines for young girls are still OK because girls like colorful magazines.

Probably it’s a matter of time that the magazines become old fashioned media, and they would need to live as a recordable media, not as real time trendy information media.

Actually, I loved magazines all through my life.  I read about 5 to 7 magazines a month 10 years ago. Now I read NO magazine regurarlly.
