In 2009, the best selling car of Japan was Toyota Prius. Hybrid cars seem to be standard choice in Japan in spite that the price is still higher than normal gasoline cars.

Honda used to be the most energy efficient car maker with Civic, Accord, or City.  But Honda recently has few hit car brands.  Toyota took place the eco car market too leaving behind the Honda’s falling down time.

In Japan there will be more eco cars in 2010. Toyota and Honda will compete with each other in this category and we, consumers, will be able to have more choices.

I’ve driven Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Suzuki, Mazda, and Subaru.  If I need to choose one brand, maybe now I would choose Toyota, but 10 years ago, I would have said Subaru or Honda.

Now Suzuki has a few very popular cars like SWIFT.  A few years later, we may choose Suzuki as our best car.  Car brands are changing so quickly in the user opinions.
