Oden is a very popular food in Japan. There are some good Oden restaurants in large cities, but also it’s popular as house cooking food in Japan.
Cooking Oden is not that hard. Most of the stuff are sold at super markets. We can add our favourite stuff by our choice, for example, some like boiled eggs, Daikon, Octpus, Squid, but most standard stuff are smashed fish stuff called Satsuma-age, Chikuwa, or Hampen.
Oden needs time for boiling all these stuff and we eat them while they are boiled in the bowl.
In the cold winter time, Oden becomes one of the most favoured foods all over Japan. We like it very much, but some foreigners don’t like it with unknown reason. If you don’t like Oden, tell me the reason !
