Susan Boyle appeared on a famous Japanese TV show on the 31st of December, 2009.  This program is called Red and White singing competition, which records very high rating each year in Japan.  Almost all of the Japanese famous singers join in this program and they are proud of the participants of this show.

It’s certain that this show lost popularity compared to the past generations, but still it is the biggest show on the year end day each year.

Susan Boyle appeared on this show as a special guest from UK, and she got about 42% rating when she sang ” I dreamt a dream”.  Susan became famous last year and she was welcomed as a special guest in the same year at the top class rating show in Japan, which is a really amazing success story !

As a reference, behind this program, in Japan there was a different TV show which casted Paul Potts.  That was a touching story and nice show of Paul Potts. I personally liked Paul’s show better than Susan’s, but the program Susan joined was far stronger than Paul’s program in the history and popularity of Japan.  So Susan naturally won in the rating competition then.

Anyway, both singers are great. I was lucky to have seen them on the same day.
