In Japan, we celebrate new years day more than Xmas in mind although Xmas party time is really noisy around us everywhere.  In recent years we take 3 to 5 day when a new year starts.  I remember,  when we were children,  the new year holiday was just one day, the New Years Day January 1st.

Anywhere in Japan, after the new year’s holiday, all the shops or department store hold the new year sale day, we call it HATSU-URI ( or New Sale ).  At Hatsuuri, major departments stores usually sell FUKUBUKURO at the entrance of the stores.  Fukubukuro is a unique sale item in Japan. 

The meaning of Fukubukuro is Happy Bag, so it’s believed to bring us new happiness and a luck.   Actually Fukubukuro is limited number sale, and when all the Fukubukoro is sold out, the sale ends.  Fukubukoro’s contents are usually secret untili the buyers open it at home, but usually it contains more expensive things than items of regular price.  So Fukubukuro is really popular.

One of the traditional department stores in Japan, TAKASHIMAYA, today announced that they will sell a Beatles Fukubukuro.  It’s only one limitted Fukubukuro, but the price is 5,534,900 yen, or about 50,000 US dollars a Fukubukuro !   Very expensive !

Who would buy it ?  Absolutely a Beatles fan will.   The contents of it are really rich for fans.

I’m a Beatles fan. If I could go and use Abbey Road Studio even just for my piano play recording, I would be very pleased with it.  But the price is another problem ! 

I’m sure that purchaser will be a die hard fan of the Beatles, at the same time, he or she must think that Beatles experience is more precious then 50,000 dollars. 

I want to do that, but I can’t pay.
